The Art of Creating a "Homemade Happiness"

Let us start this topic by differentiating the two terms "house" and "home".  What is a house? A house is a building or a 3D structure which serves as a shelter beings be it human or animal or plants. It can be big or simple, classic or modern, one storey or several storeys, dull or color full, made of bricks or made of wood, etc. What about a home? A home is a place where a gilt live together in harmony. It is where people learn their first knowledge, where they develop their social skills, where they love and being loved, where they care and being cared for. It is the place where you feel that you are safe, protected and you belong." There is no place like home" , I think we will all agree to this phrase.
Every human being in his right state of mind is always in each of happiness. Does happiness really exist? Does it have a recipe or is it like a some kind of potion that you can take or you can put in your drink and you'll get the feeling right then and then. Happy people are those people who learns to convert things and happenings into something positive. Happy people ate stress free people. They are those who knows how to remove their stress. How do they do this? One of the most effective means of removing stress is through our homes as the title of this article goes "homemade happiness" .One of the best time to remove stress and develop family bonding is the family meal. Eating together as a family is very important. People learn to communicate, they learn to share, they learn to unload their worries. Happiness does not mean lack of problems and worries because life always has them but instead happiness is a feeling of content and security that you are not alone, that you don't have to face all your worries and all your problems alone, and precisely it is in the family that you fond this support.  A shared meal helps a lot in the development and maturity of every human being. Surveys says that a family that take their meals together at least once a day has lesser probability to disintegrate because their family bonds are a lot more stronger.

The Art to Survival After an Earthquake: Your Survival Bag

It is good to be always ready when an earthquake occurs.An earthquake is unpredictable at least this time we still don't have reliable instrument to predict an earthquake but those who are studying closely about this phenomenon knows at least when an earthquake is expected to come though without date nor time. Therefore it is good that when an earthquake is being forecast we should have an always ready "survival bag" which we can easily grab before we get out when the shake comes.

Here are some tips of what to put in your "survival bag" or others called it "grab and go bag":

* clothes that are comfortable and easy to wear such as tees and jeans
* undergarments
*toothbrush,toothpaste,soap, sanitary pads,tissue and other basic cosmetics
* basic medicines such as mefenamic, paracetamol, cough syrups, anti-histamines, etc.
* water and crackers
* energy boosting food such as candies and chocolates
*towels
*flash lights just in case powers are cut off
* whistle just in case you will be trap you have something to signal the rescuers without much energy being used
* extra shoes for walking
* small bills, Identification Cards and other important document
*a small notebook with the list of some important phone numbers that you can call
* battery automated radio with a.m

The Art to Safety: What to do During Earthquakes?

Usually earthquakes only lasts for some seconds to minutes. The longest shake recorded lasts 4 minutes. But ,though its just too fast  it brings the greatest amount of casualties , both life casualties and infrastructures. Most of the time earthquake also ate followed by tidal waves or tsunami and fire as its effect.
Here are some tips that we practiced during the earthquake drill that happened last July 30.

* drop, dock,cover  and count- when you start feeling the shake make sure to drop whatever you are into with, dock yourself under a stable table or under the bed, cover your head then count 1-45 or 45 seconds. Do not close your eyes so that you can see the things that might drop over you.

* run outside into a safe open area- after 45 seconds or when the shake has already lessened that you can already manage to move, run right away outside into a safe open area because the building may not collapse during the shake but after it and of course there are many aftershocks to be expected. Make sure to stay in an area that is clear from tall buildings, no posts and trees that might drop down.

* make sure to have a designated meeting place with your family before hand where you will meet each other because for sure, electricity, network coverage signals and internet signals are going to be cut off thus there will be no means of communication.

*have an assignment for the members of the family whose to do the things during earthquake such as who will open the doors for exit and lock doors that ate not needed. It is good to lock the doors before you totally leave your home since for sure there will be looting. Who will fetch the older and sick members of the family and help them out?Who will bring the house keys?Who will open the pets cage? Though these as so gents must be done in a matter of a seconds.

* have a "survival bag" always prepared and at your easy grab or what we call "grab and go bag" which contains the things that you need for survival.

The Art of Being Always Ready

After the great earthquake of Nepal, the Phivolcs (Philippine volcanologist and seismologists) also forecast the expected 7.2 magnitude earthquake that is going to happen in the Philippines. This is according to the close study that they have been doing to the west valley fault that lies along  Marikina, Pasig, Quezon City, etc.
Earthquake prediction has been a long time obsession but until now it is still a very unreliable thing. Earthquake comes without any sign unlike the typhoons , storms and other phenomenon. If it is predicted it only happens in a matter of minutes. But earthquake forecasting is more clear like in the case of the west valley fault. We know that there will be a coming earthquake although we do not know when. For this reason everyone is ask to be ready for it. We have yo know what to do when the phenomenon happens so as to lessen life casualties.

What do we do when there is an earthquake?
Last July 31, the whole Philippines had an "earthquake drill"  particularly in metro Manila. This drill aims that the people will have a sort of "feel" when there is an earthquake. Why is this needed? It is good to have a drill so that we will know what to do when the phenomenon comes. This is like practicing for a play or a dance rehearsal. A practiced play is very much different from an impromptu act. Wrong moves are lessened, faults are corrected, unimportant parts are avoided thus it is more perfect. Hence in the earthquake drill we are prepared where to go and what to do.

Coming up.... What to during earthquake?
