Foretaste of Happiness

I remember a Christian saint who says, quoting the gospels "In laetitiae, sine nola die crucis" (in joy, not a day without a cross) . A phrase that seemed to be contradictory but when you meditate upon it with more depth you will realize that it is true. Real happiness is rooted on the realization that we are never alone in our journey in this battle field called earth. Genuine happiness is not about the "he he...ha ha" nor the boisterous laughter of people which many times only superficial but deep within them is a feeling of hollowness, distress and full of fatigue. Difficulties, problems, contradictions, worries and sufferings are like the iron bars, stones and cement that strengthen the foundation of your edifice which is happiness, if you get to overcome them and maintain your peace and serenity knowing that you will never be abandoned. These problems and contradictions in the one hand appears to be causing us sadness but on the other hand they help us learn more about life and grow more mature. There are always two sides in every coin, we have to be quick in discovering both of them. With every dose of problems and difficulty that comes in our way, together with it, is the interior strength so that we can overcome them. This interior strength is called by Christians grace.
